Mother's Day Gifts
Kids
love their moms and Mother's day is the
time to show it. Here are some fun and inexpensive
ideas for memorable Mother's day gifts.
A
fresh flower heart is simple for kids to
make. Cut a heart shape from a piece of
floral foam and soak with water. Then tape
it to a plate or platter. Snip the stems
short on fresh flowers and push them into
the foam. Depending upon the size of the
heart, you will need between 1 ½ to 2 dozen
roses and fewer if using a larger flower
like a carnation.
Making
homemade bath powder is simple. Mix the
base by blending finely ground white corn
meal with a few drops of essential oils
available at crafts stores. Then add in
unscented talcum powder and store in a sugar
shaker in a cool dry place.
If
your mom's duties include lots of driving
and waiting for kids, she'll appreciate
a mom's car kit. Fill a small canvas bag
with things like a book of crosswords, pen,
pad, nail file, water bottle, snacks, wipes
and even a city map.
Chocolate Kiss rose buds
are fun to make and even more fun to receive.
Tape two chocolate kisses together with
the bottoms touching, and wrap in rose colored
plastic wrap. Finish your flower off by
attaching a pipe cleaner stem and fake leaves
with floral tape. For fancier "rosebuds"
hot glue a few fake petals at the base of
the bud.

The
good deed bouquet is a great gift from kids
of any age. Create a few paper flowers
and secure them in a flowerpot. Write a
chore or good deed on each one. Each time
mom wants a chore done she just picks the
flower and redeems if for work.
And
don't forget the tired and true gift, breakfast
in bed. And heart shaped "I love you
muffins" can make breakfast really
special. The heart shapes are made by placing
a small ball of aluminum foil in between
the paper liner and the muffin tin before
pouring batter into the liner.
So
this year give mom what she really wants,
something that's as special to her as you
are.
