NORFOLK, Va. — Norfolk City Council approved the city’s $1.3 billion budget for fiscal year 2020.

Some of the big-ticket items for Norfolk include nearly $126 million in local funds to public schools, which is a $3 million increase.

The budget also includes a two percent raise for city employees and money to help bring sheriff's deputy salaries in line with police officer salaries.

The city is also planning on investing $70 million over the next four years, near Scope and Chrysler Hall. That includes $30 million to revamp Scope Plaza.

They're also setting aside $83 million over the next five years for the Saint Paul's revitalization project. The city plans to relocate thousands of residents from Tidewater Gardens, Young Terrace and Calvert Square as a part of that project.
