Ex-'American Idol' contestant to live with parent before fentanyl trial

Antonella Barba was indicted earlier this month in Norfolk on charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, heroin and fentanyl. Prosecutors say she was a courier for a drug ring.

NORFOLK, Va. — A former "American Idol" and "Fear Factor" contestant who was arrested last year in Virginia with nearly two pounds (0.9 kilograms) of fentanyl will be allowed to live with her father in New Jersey while awaiting trial.

32-year-old Antonella Barba will be released on a $10,000 unsecured bond after she's fitted with an electronic monitor to ensure she follows curfew. Her travel is restricted to only Virginia and New Jersey.

Barba was indicted earlier this month on federal charges of conspiracy to distribute cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl. Prosecutors say she was a courier for a drug ring.

She was previously charged with shoplifting in New York and has a felony marijuana case pending in Kansas.

Barba competed during Season 6 of "American Idol" in 2007, where she made the Top 16. Ultimately, Jordin Sparks won that season. She also competed on "Fear Factor" in 2012.

No trial date has been set at this time.
