Griffin used her car to block the bear from going onto the road and called 911. The bear slowwwlyyy started to head back into the woods.

Suffolk Police have an entire section on their website warning Virginians about bears in the area, and how to stay safe. Bear sightings are not uncommon in Hampton Roads.

Advice the police department shared when locals see a bear is to remain at a safe, respectful distance away.

Bears usually wander into residential areas because they smell food. The most common food that attracts bears include birdfeeders, garbage, pet food, outdoor grills, livestock food, compost, fruit trees, and beehives.

Griffin's 6-year-old daughter said they saved Paddington's cousin.
