Courtney Jo Dukes has been in a Nashville, Tennessee jail since May, serving time for violating her parole.
But the investigation into events surrounding the death of her baby in Chesapeake last February hasn't stopped.
13News learned Tuesday that police seized five pages of employment records from two Virginia Beach companies. One is ARCAP, a property management company Dukes used to work for. The other is a Budweiser distributor where her boyfriend is a sales manager.
The warrant states that that investigators are working on a homicide. That's the first time that word has been used by authorities in connection with this case. However, detectives also said use of the word "homicide" on the warrant doesn't imply that a murder occurred.
Detectives confirm to 13News they want to compare the records against statements Dukes and her boyfriend made to police about the baby.
Dukes has maintained the baby found in a trash bag at a Chesapeake mobile home park was stillborn, so no murder occurred.
That was the second child born to Dukes and the second one she abandoned.
Dukes got probation for the first case six years ago. Last May, after abandoning her second newborn, she was returned to Tennessee and given a four year sentence.
