Someone hooked up a video camera in the restroom of a Chesapeake audio video store.
There's only one facility at Domes Audio Video Environments on Volvo Parkway, so both men and women must use it.
Police got a tip that there was a camera hidden in a ceiling tile, taping people as they used the bathroom. A search "found a lens with a cable running from it to a hole in the attic."
There, investigators "found a vcr connected to the cable and lens, which was hidden behind various boxes", according to the warrant.
Police looked at the tape. According to the warrant, 14 people with exposed private parts were videotaped. An
officer familiar with the case, however, said no one's private parts could be seen.
Someone could claim they were trying to prevent shoplifting, but retailers know it's illegal to put cameras in restrooms. The crime is a misdemeanor.
