NEWPORT NEWS -- Hours after police identified a murder suspect, they say he turned himself in.

Kevin Lamont Ashby, last known to live on Edsyl Drive, is accused in the early Sunday shooting on 34th Street.

Witnesses told police a gold car pulled up to a group of men on the street, and two people got out and started firing. Four people were struck by gunfire; two of them, Andre Tyrone Horton, 21, and Julius Johnson, 18, died at the scene.

Ashby was being interviewed by detectives Tuesday afternoon and faces two counts of murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and one count of malicious wounding.

The investigation continues into this shooting and three others that also occurred in the area last weekend.

A 15-year-old boy is recovering after being shot while he was riding a bicycle near 33rd Street and Marshall Ave.

Dwanne Martin, 29, was shot on 35th Street Saturday morning; Carl Joseph II of Hampton was shot Sunday following a confrontation in the parking lot of Game's Farmers Market.
