VIRGINIA BEACH - 14 people have to find another place to stay after fire swept through an apartment complex in Va. Beach.
Crews were called to the two-alarm fire at Pines of Green Run, near Lynnhaven Parkway, around 2:35 p.m.
Jon Pickert, who lives at the complex, sent in photos of the damage.
Four units were damaged by fire and a fifth has exposure damage from efforts to fight the flames.
This is the third fire in nine days at the complex, said Battalion Chief Tim Riley.
One was a kitchen fire directly behind the units damaged today; the other was two blocks away and is similar in nature.
In both those cases, fire started in the rear of the structure and spread into the first and second floors, Riley explained.
The cause of those two fires remain under investigation.
Riley says apartment management is working with investigators to determine how the fires started and whether there are problems that needed to be corrected.
One person was treated at the scene.
