NEWPORT NEWS - 11 people have been indicted as alleged members of a violent street gang in Newport News.
City and federal authorities announced the action Friday morning against the Newport News residents.
One of the suspects, Rickey Rice, was arrested Wednesday, police said.

The 11 are accused of participating in the Dump Squad gang that operates in the areas of Ridley Circle, Harbor Homes and Dickerson Court.
Authorities called it a violent criminal organization that was also known as "Bang Gang" or "Slump Mobb", which operated from sometime in 2001 and through March 11, 2009.
The indictment states the group grew from the national gang called "the Bloods."
Among the charges are racketeering, drugs, conspiracy to interfere with commerce by robbery, use of a firearm, murder in the aid of racketeering activity.
Authorities say some members were involved in the murders of Terrell Williams on Nov. 6, 2006, Tiarra Campbell on Jan. 17, 2007 and Tony Vaughan on Dec. 24, 2007.
Investigators say some of the suspects tried to burn the Newport News Police Department's High Impact Patrol Station located in the Harbor Homes apartment complex.
An 11th person is being sought.
