CHESAPEAKE -- The boyfriend of a woman found dead in a Chesapeake home on June 3 is charged with murder.
25-year-old Jamica Bynum was found by family members around 7:00 a.m. in the home on Creekside Crescent.
Police say she'd been shot.
After questioning Malik Akil Griffin, 26, police initially charged him with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and Wednesday night they added one count each of murder in the first degree and use of a firearm in commission of a felony.
13News reporter Shannon Sims has learned that Bynum has two children, ages 5 and 9, who were in the home at the time, and that Griffin is the father.
Oscar Smith High School was locked down from 8:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. because it's near the crime scene, school officials stated.
