CHESAPEAKE - Three people are charged with attacking and robbing a 70-year-old woman outside her Chesapeake home in the Indian River area.

Police say she was waiting for someone outside when two of the suspects approached her and asked her for directions.

As she turned, one suspect, now identified as Jermall Leroy Rogers, struck her in the face, knocking her to the ground.

Police say Rogers grabbed her purse and ran off with the second suspect, Carnell Hill.

They got into a car driven by a 17-year-old and left the area.

A passerby saw the suspects and their getaway car, which helped police find the suspects.

After a short pursuit into Norfolk, the car stopped in the 1800 block of Greenleaf Drive. The three were taken into custody.

Rogers, 18, of the 1700 block of Greenleaf Drive, and Hill, 19, of the 1000 block of Watson Street, are in the Chesapeake jail on a charge of robbery.

A robbery petition was secured for the 17-year-old driver, whose name isn't being released because of his age.
