VIRGINIA BEACH -- Many people are doing more than driving when they get behind the wheel.
At Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach on Wednesday, students learned about the dangers of distracted driving - texting, e-mailing and playing with the satellite radio while driving.
Police say that multi-tasking behavior starts early and, doing it while driving is risky.
Sophomore Chaz Lawrey says he's got new respect for keeping his hands and his mind on driving.
"That one instant you're not looking is the one instant you hit and take somebody's life," he said.
Commonwealth's Attorney Harvey Bryant reminded the teens it's illegal in Virginia to drive and talk on the phone if you're under 18.
