HAMPTON -- A Hampton man is accused of threatening a Hampton University student with a sex tape.
According to a court document, Carlos Griffin, 35, called her, threatening to put the video on the Internet and ruin her reputation if she didn't give him money and have sex with him.
The document also states there was a pre-arranged meeting and, with campus police close by, the student met Griffin and identified his voice as the caller.
The charge of attempted extortion doesn't surprise Griffin's half-brother, Tyrone Brown.
"This will be his third strike. Now at least I can tell my mom what it might be."
Police took Griffin's cell phone as evidence and say the threatening call was made from that number.
