NEWPORT NEWS (AP) -- A 40-year-old Newport News man has been sentenced to 191 years in prison for robbing seven banks at gunpoint.
U.S. District Judge Henry Coke Morgan sentenced Hector Javier Caraballo on Thursday.
Caraballo was found guilty in December on three counts of bank robbery, two counts of attempted bank robbery and eight counts of use of a firearm during a violent felony.
The FBI says Caraballo robbed seven banks and attempted to rob three others between November 2007 and February 2008.
A tip led agents to Caraballo's apartment, where they found a firearm, disguises, stolen license plates and dye-stained currency.
Caraballo was also ordered to pay nearly $109,000 in restitution.
